MISSIONS UPDATE ~ 2010 GOAL  -  $52,500.00

$25,241.91 received as of July 25, 2010

HAITI MISSION TRIP

The Haiti mission trip has been scheduled for Nov. 9-Nov. 23, 2010. We will work in Port au Prince close enough to the airport to permit team members to commit to only one week if they cannot commit to two weeks. Based on the priorities established by the Haiti leadership, we anticipate that our primary task will be helping repair or rebuild one or more of the school or church buildings damaged or destroyed by the earthquake. And depending on the talents of our team members, we will have opportunities to directly minister to the people (especially the children) in the area(s) we are working. More details will be forthcoming, but prayerfully begin now to consider being a member of this mission team.

There is an information meeting scheduled for Wed., June 30 at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary for anyone who plans to go on this Mission trip or who would like more information about the trip.

PROJECT BARNABAS
Thanks for your help in supplying material and sheets for this mission.  Also, thanks to all the ladies who are cutting the blocks.  We are sending 10,680 quilt blocks.

We are no longer making bandages but continue sending the sheets and pillow cases for the hospitals, etc.

We are in need of 100% cotton material!! If you have cotton material that is suitable for quilt blocks, please consider donating it to this ministry.  We are still in need of ladies to cut the blocks on the first Monday of the month.  Next meeting will be August 2 (No meeting in July).  If you have any questions, please contact Linda White or Maggie Ray.

MISSION ANNOUNCEMENTS

Oakdale Christian Academy in Jackson, KY is collecting “Box Tops $ - Education” coupons. These coupons can be found on most Betty Crocker and General Mills products. They are redeemed by the school for much-needed equipment. You can help by collecting and placing them in the envelope marked “Oakdale” on the Welcome Center. Thank you!

The Missions Committee would like to have a display of the children that our congregation supports through Child Care Ministries. If you would be willing to lend the picture of your child or children for awhile, please put your name on the back of the picture and place in the container provided on the Welcome Center or give to Virginia Beard. Thanks so much.

COLLECTING SMALL SIZE TOILETRIES

We are collecting small sizes of lotion, shampoo, and soap (the type that are used in hotels). Kay Stotts-Godoy, missionary to Latin America, can use these in a variety of ways. We recently sent 741 items, but more are needed. Please leave at the Welcome Center. See Maggie Ray or Virginia Beard if you have questions.
