"Empowered through Christ, we will Serve, Save, Strengthen and Send"

Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is a ministry designed to get the message out that mothering matters. MOPS believes that better mothers today make a better future tomorrow. MOPS International's purpose is to nurture the distinct needs of every mother of preschoolers to the glory of Jesus Christ. This happens mainly through relationships that are formed when women become involved in a MOPS group. Our local MOPS group meets the first Friday morning of the month Sept.-Dec. and Feb.-May. We currently have 62 moms attending. There are several different ways our church members can serve in this ministry.

-Pray that each mother that attends will come to know Jesus in a very personal way and find Him as her greatest source of encouragement

-Help with childcare during meetings or provide financial support to help with this (We currently spend $210 per meeting to pay for childcare workers).

-Serve as a greeter to the moms coming in to the meetings.

-Become a MOPS mentor by coming to the meetings and sharing your time and advice with the mothers.

-Provide breakfast the morning of a meeting to the childcare team.

-Be a guest speaker at a meeting, sharing something relevant to the lives of mothers of little ones.

-Demonstrate a craft or life skill project to the moms at a meeting.

Greeters

Greeters are scheduled to be positioned in the welcome center 15 minutes before start of service until sanctuary doors are shut for service. The function of the ³service greeter² is two-fold, 1) To ensure service attendees are provided a service bulletin, and 2) To ensure each attendee receives a warm friendly welcome. Service greeters have been selected from those who have signed up on survey sheets or on gifts worksheet results. The church administrative assistant creates a schedule for all services using these lists. Normally, greeters are selected to serve only one time in each quarter. Occasionally they may be asked to fill in due to an assigned greeter's illness, travel or unexpected difficulty. Each quarter the service greeters are mailed a list showing the day & service at which they are to serve. Additionally, the greeters are contacted by telephone the night before as a reminder of their commitment. It is a good way to meet those in the congregation that you might not otherwise. Newcomer Greeters will soon be needed. These greeters will be positioned outside the building (weather permitting) and will identify first time visitors to make a special effort to welcome them. A pamphlet describing our body and ministry will be provided to ³each² newcomer. Additionally, this greeter will be responsible for acquiring names of the newcomers to allow the Pastoral Staff a follow-up visit.
